Qatar Development Fund signs agreement to establish "Qatar Square" In the Albanian capital Tirana

Qatar Development Fund signed a grant agreement with the Municipality of Tirana to establish “Qatar Square” in the capital of the Republic of Albania, Tirana.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Fund by its Acting Director General, Mr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al-Asiri, and on the Albanian side by His Excellency Mr. Erion Veliaj, Mayor of Tirana Municipality, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Jabr bin Ali Hussein Al-Dosari, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Tirana.

The agreement aims to finance the construction of a main square in the heart of the capital Tirana for an amount of 11 million euros, on an area of ​​23.7 thousand square meters. The project will include various facilities such as squares for celebrations, exhibitions and events, some shops and gathering spaces, and a purification system for the Lido River water that will support the natural irrigation water for the surrounding park that will be created within the project.

The project features a design inspired by the “Sadu” pattern, reflecting the aesthetics of Qatari heritage and enhancing cultural exchange and cooperation between the two countries.
The project aims to achieve long-term development goals, including providing a suitable environment for building 25,000 homes around the square, in addition to providing various job opportunities for Albanian citizens, which will positively contribute to supporting the wheel of development and revitalizing the local labor market by making this square an important center.
