The Qatar International Court participated in the sixth meeting of the Permanent International Forum for Commercial Courts, which was held in New Delhi, Republic of India, during the period from 8 to 9 November 2025, with high-level participation from delegations representing about 68 commercial courts from various countries of the world, including heads of judicial councils, presidents of courts and judges of supreme courts, which reflects the growing role of commercial courts in establishing confidence and building a stable legal and economic environment that is attractive to investment.
Mr. Faisal bin Rashid Al Sahuti, CEO of the Court, stressed the importance of the role played by the Qatar International Court in supporting international judicial cooperation and developing commercial justice systems, noting that the forum constitutes a major platform for exchanging experiences and best practices and strengthening frameworks of communication and cooperation between commercial courts around the world, which contributes to facilitating cross-border trade.
The forum sessions witnessed the discussion of a number of pivotal topics, including enhancing international judicial rapprochement through developing standards and practices that support the recognition and implementation of commercial rulings across borders, examining mechanisms for developing the enforcement of arbitration and mediation rulings, and facilitating procedures for exchanging documents and hearing witnesses between different judicial systems.
The sessions also addressed the legal responsibility of companies in light of contemporary global challenges such as climate change, digital transformation, and the expansion of private finance, and the resulting repercussions on the rules of commercial law, in addition to reviewing the uses of artificial intelligence within judicial systems, with an emphasis on the need to establish ethical controls and standards that guarantee the preservation of the independence of the judiciary and the safeguarding of fair trial guarantees.
It is worth noting that the State of Qatar, represented by the Qatar International Court, hosted the fifth meeting of the forum in the city of Doha during the period from 20 to 21 April 2024, in continuation of the state’s approach to strengthening international judicial cooperation and developing professional communication channels between commercial courts around the world, in a way that supports the exchange of best judicial practices and enhances the state’s position as a leading destination in the field of commercial justice and the settlement of commercial disputes with an international dimension.
Established in 2017 as an international judicial initiative, the Permanent International Forum for Commercial Courts is a leading platform for strengthening the rule of law and developing legal services related to cross-border commercial disputes. The forum includes approximately 68 commercial courts from various legal systems around the world, and aims to enhance professional cooperation between courts, exchange judicial expertise, and develop procedural mechanisms for settling international commercial disputes, thus contributing to the stability of transactions and enhancing confidence in the legal structure on which the global economy is based.
