Qatar Investment Authority and JPMorgan Asset Management (JPMAM) announced today the signing of a memorandum of understanding establishing a strategic partnership worth US$20 billion, to benefit from the investment capabilities of both parties in public and private markets.

This partnership will initially include (in a first phase) two areas of cooperation, the first of which is a public equity portfolio worth US$15 billion designed to support the agency’s long-term investment objectives, while the second area is an initiative to invest in private markets worth US$5 billion focusing on supporting medium-sized companies in the United States of America.

Under the Public Equity Portfolio, JPMorgan Asset Management will manage global equity portfolios allocated to the Qatar Investment Authority, leveraging its leading active equity management capabilities, global investment platform, and extensive research resources.

Qatar Investment Authority and JP Morgan Asset Management, through the Private Markets Investment Initiative strategy, will provide seed financing to medium-sized companies in the United States of America in various fields, with a focus on the industrial, services, healthcare, and technology sectors.

This partnership was designed within a mutually beneficial framework that combines the long-term institutional vision of the Qatar Investment Authority with the world-leading investment expertise of J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

It is expected that this strategic partnership will play an important role in enhancing the ability of both parties to benefit from global investment opportunities and achieve sustainable value in the long term.

In this context, Mr. Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Qatar Investment Authority, stressed the importance of expanding the partnership with JP Morgan Asset Management and benefiting from one of the most prominent global platforms specialized in stocks and private credit.

He said: “This partnership will represent an important step towards exploring new opportunities for both parties that will enable them to achieve long-term value through ongoing investment dialogue, joint programs, and direct exchange of ideas.”

For her part, Ms. Mary Callahan Erdoz, CEO of JP Morgan Asset and Wealth Management, said: “We will work to support the institutional role of the Qatar Investment Authority as one of the global investment leaders, and we will also support the achievement of customized, high-quality investment solutions.”
