Sanchez added in a statement today to the official website of Al Sadd Club on the sidelines of the team’s preparatory camp currently being held in the Spanish city of Malaga, which concludes today, that he knows that his mission is a great responsibility, but with everyone’s cooperation, efforts will be focused on achieving the goal and competing in the new season in a very distinctive manner.
The former coach of the Qatari national team, who won the 2019 Asian Cup with him, explained that he knows many of the team’s players, considering that he had previously trained them during his time with the national team, which will help him adapt and integrate with the group, as well as qualify the team to deal well with the style of play.
The coach, who led the Qatari national team in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, continued that the current period is the most important for preparing for the new season, and everyone is training well with a positive spirit and quality during the friendly matches, and everything is going well.
Regarding the competition in the new season, Sanchez, who led the Ecuadorian national team in the last Copa America, said that the level of competition in the Qatari league increases every season, which makes it more difficult to win championships, expressing his great confidence in Al Sadd’s ability to compete in all championships.
At the end of his statements, the 48-year-old coach called on Al Sadd fans to support the team during its upcoming matches and continue to support the team in order to achieve its goals.
The Spanish coach left his position as coach of the Qatari national team after the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, following the exit from the first round of the World Cup, to take over the coaching of the Ecuadorian national team, which he led in several tournaments, the last of which was the recent Copa America held in the United States of America, where he was dismissed after the exit from the round of 16 against Argentina on penalties.
Last season, Al Sadd won the Qatar Football League and the Emir Cup. During the current summer transfers, the team signed Spanish striker Rafa Mujica for four seasons, and Algerian defender Abdessamad Bounacer.
The team is preparing for the opening match of the Ooredoo Stars League, where it will begin its journey with a match against Al Shamal on August 10 at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.
