He added in this context that the preparations in the camp were very good, and the equipment was also excellent, as there were some challenges at the beginning due to some players joining the camp later, but he expressed his happiness with the players’ level and harmony, especially for the elements that recently joined the team.
He explained that the difficulty of the opening matches is for all parties due to the lack of sufficient information regarding the players’ performance on the field, and this constitutes an important challenge.
Regarding his ambitions with Al Wakrah, Angel said that he was in Qatar a while ago, and he knows the extent of the change that has occurred in the league, in terms of the quality of the players, and the development of the competition, indicating his aspiration to do his utmost during the new experience, to achieve success, expressing his happiness to take on the task of training the team, which has developed a lot during the past seasons, as the ambition will be to continue to be among the big four.
For his part, Al Ahli’s Croatian coach Igor Biscan expressed his great confidence in his team’s distinguished appearance, starting with the match against Al Wakrah in the opening round.
The coach said in a statement before the match that he had worked in the past period to prepare the team to be more technically and mentally present in the matches, and he realizes that the Qatari league includes strong clubs and the competition in it will not be easy; therefore, his focus in the past period was on preparing his players to be more distinguished on the collective and individual levels.
Biskan expressed his great enthusiasm for the start of the competition, pointing out that the work he and his assistant staff did during the preparation period was excellent, and that he realizes that its result will appear in the next stage, pointing to the great enthusiasm and desire of the players to show the best levels in the competition.
The coach confirmed that his ambitions with the team are great in his first season as a coach in the Qatari league and he looks forward to presenting a successful season with his team, while realizing that his team is not the strongest in the competition, but it will not be an easy team and he will work to achieve results that satisfy the ambitions of the club and its fans.
The coach stressed that his philosophy at work is to make an effort and focus in all matches, indicating that the league will be strong and there will be no easy match and that the competition will be difficult based on the preparations of the clubs he followed, so he worked to make Al-Ahly competitive and present in all matches mentally from the beginning until the final whistle in order to collect points.
