Qatar League.. The fifth week witnesses the achievement of a unique number

The fifth week of the Ooredoo Stars League 2024-2025 witnessed excitement at the level of competition between the teams with the aim of obtaining the three points, in order to advance forward in the standings.

The round was held on September 21-22, 2024, and resulted in the following results:

Al Duhail beat Al Sadd 5-1

Umm Salal beat Al Shahaniya 4-2

Al Shamal beat Al Khor 2-1

Al Wakra beat Al Rayyan 2-0

Al Gharafa beat Qatar SC 3-1

Al-Ahly and Al-Arabi tied 3-3

During the 6 matches, 27 goals were scored, with an average of 4.5 goals per match. This is the highest scoring round this season so far.

It also witnessed 5 wins and one draw, and the biggest win was for Al Duhail, which it achieved against Al Sadd. 3 matches witnessed 18 goals scored (6 goals in each match), and Al Wakrah team came out with a clean sheet.

The yellow card was shown 18 times, while the round was free of red cards.

There are still 3 teams that have not won this season so far, and they are: Al Arabi, Al Khor, and Al Shahaniya.

In terms of standings, Al Duhail continued its excellence and superiority this season by achieving its fifth consecutive victory. It is the only team that did not lose or draw and collected the full mark with 15 points, widening the gap to 4 points with its closest competitor, Al Ahli, who drew with Al Arabi, where the gap was 2 points, but now it is 4 points.

Al Ahli comes in second place with 11 points, Umm Salal third with 9 points, Al Gharafa and Al Wakrah in fourth and fifth place with 8 points each, Al Shamal sixth with 7 points, Al Sadd seventh with 6 points, and with the same score Al Rayyan in eighth place with goal difference, then Al Arabi in ninth place with 4 points, followed by Al Khor and Qatar SC in tenth and eleventh places, each with 3 points, and in twelfth and last place Al Shahaniya with 2 points.

Al Sadd dropped to seventh place after being third before this week, while Al Rayyan dropped to eighth after being fifth. Umm Salal advanced to third place, Al Gharafa and Al Wakrah to fourth and fifth, and Al Shamal to sixth place.

Al Duhail opened the competition with a win over Al Sadd in a match in which the flood showed a distinguished level and succeeded in achieving the fifth consecutive victory to confirm its strong readiness for the struggle and competition this season. On the other hand, Al Sadd suffered its second consecutive defeat and its third this season, as it had lost to Umm Salal in the fourth round as well.

Umm Salal also managed to continue their distinguished journey this season and achieved their third victory this season and the second in a row, as they defeated Al-Shahaniya, who had taken the lead during the match, but the Barzan Falcons succeeded in returning and seizing the three points in a match that was exciting and thrilling.

Al Shamal achieved its second victory this season by defeating Al Khor, which is still looking for its first victory. The match witnessed competition between the two teams to win points, before Al Shamal won and snatched 3 valuable points in its journey in the championship.

Al Wakrah, with its national coach Ali Rahma Al Marri, who took over the technical responsibility a day before the match according to what was announced, succeeding the Spanish coach Miguel Angel, regained the winning tone and achieved the second victory with a strong performance, especially during the second half of its match against Al Rayyan, so that the Blue Wave obtained three valuable points that may be an incentive for it in its journey during the next stage. On the other hand, Al Rayyan players did not take advantage of a number of opportunities that were available to them and lost focus after Al Wakrah took the initiative to score the first goal.

Al Gharafa also regained victories again and achieved the second victory during the season after defeating Qatar Club. The Panthers obtained the three points that pushed them to fourth place, while Qatar Club remained in eleventh place with 3 points from one victory and 4 defeats.

In an exciting and strong match that lasted until the last minute, Al-Arabi snatched a valuable point by tying in the dying minutes against Al-Ahly, who were ahead in the score. However, Youssef Msakni managed to score the third equalizer in the sixth minute of stoppage time for Al-Arabi, who was technically led for the first time by English coach Anthony Hudson after it was announced that he would take over the responsibility, succeeding coach Younis Ali.
