Our hero, driver Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, was crowned champion of the 44th edition of the Middle East Rally Championship for the current year 2024, after topping the overall drivers’ standings after coming in second behind his compatriot Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah in the Cyprus International Rally, which constituted the third and final round of the Middle Eastern Championship.
Al-Kuwari, who achieved his first title in the Middle East Championship, raised his score to 74 points at the top of the overall drivers’ standings, only 4 points behind his closest competitor and his compatriot Al-Attiyah, who is in second place with 70 points, while Jordanian driver Shaker Jwaihan came in third place with 37 points.
Al Kuwari became the fifth Qatari driver to win the Middle East Championship title after Saeed Al Hajri, Sheikh Hamad bin Eid Al Thani, Misfer Al Marri, and Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah.
As for the Cyprus Rally competitions, Nasser Al-Attiyah won the title of the 51st edition of the Cyprus International Rally, which constituted the third round of the Middle East Championship this season, achieving his ninth title in the Cyprus Rally.
Al-Attiyah, accompanied by his Italian navigator, Giovanni Bernacini, on board a Skoda Fabia RS, covered the rally distance in a time of 2:47:00.0 hours, better than his closest competitor and compatriot Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari, who was in second place, by 9:46.2 minutes. With a time of 2:56:46.2 hours, while their compatriot Rashid Al-Muhannadi, accompanied by his Jordanian navigator Atta Al-Hamoud, came in third place.
