The Qatari junior handball team is preparing to participate in the 10th Asian Junior Handball Championship (qualifiers for the 2025 Slovenia World Championship), which will be held in the Iranian city of Shiraz during the period from the third to the fourteenth of next September.
The Qatari team will compete in the tournament in Group Two, which includes the Saudi and Emirati teams, while Group One includes the teams of Iran, Iraq and India, Group Three includes the teams of South Korea, Bahrain and Chinese Taipei, and Group Four includes the teams of Japan, Kuwait, China and Jordan.
The Qatari team will begin its journey in the tournament by meeting its Emirati counterpart on Wednesday, September 4, before meeting the Saudi team on Thursday, September 5.
The first and second place teams from each group will qualify for the main round, in which the eight qualified teams will be divided into two groups of four teams in each group, with the first and second place teams qualifying for the semi-finals.
The top five teams in the Asian Championship will qualify for the World Championship in Slovenia 2025.
It is noteworthy that the Qatari junior handball team won the Asian Championship title twice in 2010 in Abu Dhabi and 2012 in Manama. It also came in second place three times in 2006 in Tehran, 2008 in Oman and 2014 in Oman as well.
