The Qatari national team swimmers will begin their journey in the 20th Asian Games “Aichi-Nagoya 2026” tomorrow, Sunday, with the men’s individual competitions at the Aquatics Center in the Japanese capital, which is hosting the swimming competitions in the tournament, whose competitions will continue until the fourth of next October.
The Qatari team is participating in the continental tournament with seven swimmers, namely Muhammad Mahmoud, Ali Tamer, Saad Eddin Saad Eddin, Emil Munir Fawzaei, Abdullah Al-Ghamri, Tamim Al-Hamaida, and Muhammad Aziz Jilani, with three of them beginning their participation on the first day of competition.
Swimmer Mohamed Mahmoud will compete in the qualifiers for the 200-meter medley race, while Ali Tamer will participate in the 100-meter freestyle race, and Abdullah Al-Ghamri will compete in the 100-meter backstroke race.
The next day, Monday, will see the Qatari team participate in the 4 x 200 meter freestyle relay.
The swimming competitions program in the session includes (41) competitions, including individual races and relay races.
The swimmers completed their preparations for the continental participation according to an integrated preparatory programme, which focused on raising technical and physical readiness and preparing for competitions. Part of the preparatory program was held in France and included intensive training with the aim of reaching the highest levels of readiness before the start of the tournament’s competitions.
The Qatari team is looking forward to benefiting from its participation in the tournament, improving its personal numbers and enhancing its presence in Asian competitions.
The Qatari team’s participation in the Asian Games comes after a distinguished season for Qatari swimmers, during which they won 26 various medals in the 2026 Gulf Games hosted by Qatar last May, continuing their journey towards achieving more achievements and appearing honorably in the Asian competition.
The State of Qatar is participating in the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 with a delegation that includes 427 individuals, including 243 male and female athletes, 184 male and 59 female players, in addition to 142 members of the technical and administrative staff, 23 members of the administrative delegation, and 16 members of the media delegation.
