Within the ongoing development plan, and to achieve a number of strategic goals that include raising the technical level, increasing the number of matches during the season, raising the level of competition and friction by ensuring a greater number of posts for players, in addition to giving the opportunity to young players and giving them more space to gain experiences, and in line with the strategic plan to develop the second -class competitions, the Qatar Stars League Foundation announced the development of the QSL Cup championship for the season 2025-2026, which includes:
– Holding the championship with the participation of 20 teams, including first and second class teams.
– Developing the championship system in line with the latest systems in force in a number of continental and international tournaments.
– The league system is held from one stage, at a rate of 10 games for each team over 10 weeks with different -level teams.
– 6 foreign professional players are allowed to participate in the list of each team for the match (5 + 1), and the players of the youth and the Redif can be used.
The two teams qualify the first and second places directly to the quarter -finals.
– The teams qualify from third to fourteenth to the next stage, and play 6 exclusionary matches, of which 6 teams qualify for the quarter -finals.
– In the quarter -finals, 4 matches are held with a knockout system.
– The semi -finals and the final, each of it is held from one match.
It should be noted that a meeting with the participating clubs will be held to explain the championship mechanism and hold the lottery ceremony.
