As part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility, Qatar Rail hosted four field visits for students from local and international entities on the Doha Metro network during the summer season of 2024.
These visits provided participants with a unique opportunity to explore the Doha Metro network and gain a deeper understanding of its operations and sustainable system.
Qatar Rail facilitated these educational visits to engage students in learning about the metro system, its operations and the role it plays in promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation in Qatar.
These visits aim to enhance students’ knowledge of metro services and emphasize the importance of public transportation in facilitating mobility in cities and urban areas. These visits included two field visits for participants in the Aspire Summer Camp, where participants had the opportunity to explore the metro system and visit Sports City and Msheireb stations. Another visit was organized for participants in the Al Khor Sports Club Summer Camp, where students explored the metro network and visited Lusail QNB and Msheireb stations.
Additionally, in collaboration with Qatar Airways, Qatar Rail hosted a field visit for a group of international students from Zimbabwe. During the visit, the participants were able to learn about the metro network and visit the National Museum and Msheireb stations, as well as gain a first-hand insight into the services provided across the network and the importance of the metro as a sustainable and environmentally friendly means of transportation. During these visits, the participants had the opportunity to learn about the Doha Metro operations and the network’s commitment to providing integrated, reliable and sustainable transportation solutions.
As part of its social responsibility strategy, Qatar Rail is committed to continuing its efforts to enhance community awareness and introduce various groups to the Doha Metro network, the various facilities in the metro, how the network works and how to use its services to reach the most important destinations in Doha, in addition to highlighting the metro’s contribution to sustainability and environmental conservation.
It is worth noting that during the previous academic year 2023-2024, Qatar Rail, in cooperation with its partners and a number of schools in the country, organized a group of educational school visits for students on the Doha Metro network. The company is scheduled to resume this program during the new academic year 2024-2025, and schools wishing to participate in the program can coordinate this matter by contacting the Communications and Public Relations Department at Qatar Rail.
