The Saudi national team achieved victory over its Chinese counterpart, with two goals to one, during the match that brought them together yesterday, at Dalian Siyuan Stadium in China, in the second round of Group Three competitions in the third and decisive stage qualifying for the 2026 World Cup finals, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Chinese team took the lead with a goal scored by Saudi player Ali Lajami in the 14th minute, by mistake in his own net. The Saudi team equalized through Hassan Kadesh in the 38th minute, then scored again for him and his country’s team in the 90th minute, giving the Saudi team its first win in the third stage of the qualifiers after a 1-1 draw against Indonesia in the first round.
The match witnessed the Saudi national team midfielder, Mohammed Kano, receiving a red card in the 19th minute after resorting to the video assistant referee (VAR) technology, and he completed the match with ten players and succeeded in achieving victory.
The Saudi team raised its score to four points, while the Chinese team remained without points, in sixth and /last/ place in the group, after receiving its second consecutive loss, as it had lost in the first round to Japan by seven clean goals.
