The Organizing Committee of the Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, and the Qatar Basketball Federation, signed an agreement to cooperate with the Qatar Diyar Company to organize the Lusail Championship “3 x 3”, Chaalngeger International Basketball Triple, which will be held during the day 2 and 3 next May in Al -Saad Square in the Lusail Path.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Mohamed Saad Al -Maghaisib, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation and Director General of the Organizing Committee of the Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, and Engineer Fahd Abdul Latif Al -Jahrami, Head of the Development and Asset Management Sector at Al -Diyar Al -Qatari Company.
The tournament is witnessing the participation of 16 teams representing 11 countries from different continents of the world, namely Toulouse (France), Lyman and Partizan (Serbia), Carolina (Porto Rico), New York Harlem (United States of America), Logano (Switzerland), Kandava (Latvia), County (Lithuania), Maribia (Spain), and Kigali (Rwanda), And Nichinomia (Japan), along with five Qatari teams: Al -Wakra, Al -Rayyan, Doha, Al -Gharafa, and Al -Khor.
The hosting of the tournament comes within the framework of the preparations for the World Basketball Cup Qatar 2027, as the tournament aims to spread basketball culture and increase its popularity at the local and global levels, as well as enhance the audience’s interaction with this sport.
This agreement constitutes a strategic step towards expanding the base of the followers of the game, as well as strengthening the mass momentum of this sport on the way to the World Cup.
It is expected that the path of Lusail, with its modern features and a distinctive interactive environment, will constitute an ideal destination that combines players and fans in an exceptional sports atmosphere that reflects Qatar’s advanced position as a global sporting destination.
On this occasion, Mr. Mohamed Saad Al -Mugheisib, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation and Director General of the Organizing Committee of the Basketball World Cup Qatar 2027, said in a press statement: “The hosting of the Lusail 3 x 3 championship represents a new station on our journey towards the 2027 basketball World Cup.”
Al -Mughaisib added: “This tournament embodies the committee of the organizing committee to bring the game closer to society by holding more international championships in the Qatari capital, Doha.
He stressed that the committee is proud in cooperation with the Qatar Diyar Company and the International Basketball Federation, in organizing this world championship in the heart of the city of Lusail, which provides the masses with an exceptional sporting experience and highlights Qatar’s growing role in developing basketball globally.
