Snapchat has announced a partnership with Google to leverage its AI models and add them to its My AI smart assistant.
The integration of Gemini AI models into the My AI chatbot is expected to lead to significant performance improvements and broader capabilities than before.
Snapchat had launched the My AI chatbot for its users in 2023 powered by OpenAI’s GPT models, however, upgrading to Gemini will make the bot more capable of understanding and working with texts, images, and videos, and this will also increase users’ interaction with the bot on a daily basis.
“This partnership with Google Cloud reinforces what’s important to our community,” said Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snapchat, in a press release. “Snapchat’s mission is to empower people to express themselves, live in the moment, and discover the world.”
“Gemini models now power millions of multimedia interactions in Snapchat every day, allowing users to better engage with My AI with built-in accuracy and safety,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud.
Thanks to Gemini’s advanced models, the My AI chatbot will help users take photos or videos of anything and ask about it, features similar to tools and features Google already offers.
