Professor Ulrich Bulkowski said that migraine is a chronic headache on one side of the head, which occurs in the form of repeated and severe pain attacks that prevent a person from living his life normally.
stabbing pain
The German neurologist explained that the symptoms of migraine are represented by a stabbing, pulsating pain in the head, literally, noting that the matter gets worse when doing physical effort during a migraine attack, such as climbing stairs.
Symptoms of migraine also include nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to light, and an aura, which is a flash in the visual field that can make reading difficult, for example, as well as numbness in the hands or face.
The exact causes of migraines are not yet known, but it is suspected that there is a genetic predisposition, on the basis of which various internal and external factors (triggers) lead to the occurrence of pain attacks, Bulkowski added.
Treatment methods
Although migraines cannot be cured, their symptoms can be reduced with medications such as pain relievers, anti-nausea and vomiting medications, and triptans.
In addition to drug therapy, some general measures should also be followed, such as rest, avoiding stimuli, and practicing relaxation techniques.
