Steaua Bucharest president Gigi Becali confirmed that the team and Romanian national team player Florinel Coman has completely completed the agreement to join Al Gharafa starting from the new 2024-2025 season. The player had participated in the Romanian national team during the European Nations Cup currently being held in Germany before his country’s team was eliminated from the tournament in the round of sixteen after losing to the Dutch national team by three goals to none.
Gigi Becali said in statements to Digi Sport newspaper, “The player is now with Al Gharafa and will go to Qatar within the next two weeks and join the team’s training. The player’s transfer is in exchange for purchasing his contract and not by activating the penalty clause, as the value of the deal will be 5.25 million euros.”
He added: “I spoke with the player and he indicated that he will undergo a medical examination and will sign the contract between July 15 and 20. Everything has been agreed upon.”
Once the Romanian player is signed, Al Gharafa will have closed the professional file, by signing another Spaniard, Joselu, with the renewal of the contract with the South Korean player, Jang, for 3 years, and the stay of Ferjani Sassi and the Algerian Yacine Brahimi, and the under-age duo, Seydou Sano, and the Uruguayan Fabricio Diaz, with the departure of the professional duo, the Algerian Farid Boulaya and the Ivorian, Johan Boli.
On the other hand, the team continues its strong preparations for the new season, which the Panthers are looking forward to continuing the positive results with the Portuguese coach Pedro Martinez and competing for titles, similar to last season, when the Panthers came in third place in the league table, reached the semi-finals of the Emir’s Cup, and participated in the Qatar Cup. The team will also participate in the Asian Elite Championship.
The training includes a greater focus on the physical aspect, especially since the team was on vacation for about a month, so it is important during the current period to focus on the physical aspect. The training will continue for the Panthers before traveling to Slovakia to participate in the external camp, which includes many friendly matches of varying levels before the team returns and participates in the third stage of preparations, before the start of the league, which is scheduled to start on August 9.
