The year 2024 witnessed prominent activity by the General Authority of Civil Aviation in terms of meetings, discussions and bilateral agreements between the State of Qatar and many countries of the world, which confirms the vital role that the Authority plays in strengthening the country’s position as a global center for air transport. Since its establishment, the Authority has worked to develop aviation infrastructure and enhance safety. Air, making Qatar one of the preferred destinations for passengers and air cargo.

The authority also attaches great importance to aviation safety, as it adopts the highest international standards in this field. By implementing advanced training programs and implementing strict regulatory systems, to ensure the safety of all air operations, which enhances the confidence of travelers and airlines.
At the airline network level, the Authority is working to expand the airline network through cooperation with international airlines and concluding agreements to expand the national carrier’s network of destinations to connect the State of Qatar to many global destinations, which facilitates access to new markets and enhances its position as an air transport hub.
The authority seeks to achieve sustainability in the aviation sector by adopting new technologies and environmentally friendly practices. It develops strategies aimed at reducing carbon emissions and enhancing energy efficiency at airports.
Since the beginning of the year, the civil aviation system in the State of Qatar has witnessed the signing of many agreements and the holding of intensive rounds of joint discussions, in addition to participation in many prestigious events in the field, in order to develop the system and strengthen the civil aviation industry in Qatar. By working to connect the State of Qatar with air services agreements that open the way for the national carrier to expand its network of destinations to reach more global destinations.
These meetings came to confirm the continuation of the General Civil Aviation Authority’s efforts to enhance cooperation with various countries and international bodies in the field of civil aviation, which strengthens Qatar’s position as a global air transport center and contributes to strengthening trade and economic cooperation with countries of the world.
The air transport agreements signed with countries around the world provide Qatar Airways with greater opportunities to expand its global network of destinations, which now includes more than 170 global destinations. At a time when the number of foreign airlines operating their flights to the State of Qatar is growing through Hamad International Airport, which provides its services to more than 200 destinations, including travel, air cargo and private aviation destinations.
In a related context, the Authority was able to make advanced strides in developing the systems used in air navigation in accordance with the latest international specifications, to accommodate the requirements of traffic. The number of meteorological stations has reached 48. Recent developments have contributed to improving and enhancing the quality of meteorological services in air and maritime navigation operations.
One of the most prominent regional and international successes achieved by the Authority is the State of Qatar winning the presidency of the Air Transport Committee of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) last June, in confirmation by the international community of Qatar’s pioneering role and effective contributions in finding solutions to the various challenges facing the civil aviation industry. International. Last July, the State of Qatar obtained membership in the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, after the General Assembly agreed to re-elect the entire Executive Council, during the work of the 28th regular session of the Organization’s General Assembly, which was held in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

Commenting on these achievements, Mr. Mohammed bin Faleh Al-Hajri, in charge of managing the work of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, said: “The State of Qatar’s victory in the presidency of the Air Transport Committee of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is an achievement added to the series of other notable achievements achieved by the civil aviation system in The State of Qatar also represents an important confirmation of the vital role it plays in the global aviation industry. This achievement comes as we continue our commitment and constant keenness to participate in all the events and initiatives held by the organization with the aim of developing the aviation industry at the international level.”
Al-Hajri also expressed his happiness at the re-election of the State of Qatar as a member of the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, noting that this confirms the extent of member states’ confidence in its pioneering role in the field of developing the aviation industry in the Arab world and its outstanding efforts in the areas of joint Arab action to develop this vital sector.
Al-Hajri stressed that these achievements confirm that the civil aviation sector in the State of Qatar has been able to record qualitative growth and achieve unprecedented development at various levels, as the aviation industry has become a cornerstone of the components of the Qatari economy, based on its ability to attract capital and huge investments, in addition to what It offers capabilities that contribute to driving economic growth.
He said: “The State of Qatar is constantly seeking to leave a special mark and occupy a prominent and prestigious position on the map of international civil aviation through its efforts and constant endeavor to advance the aviation sector in the world. It supports all initiatives to develop it, in addition to its commitment to ensuring further cooperation with all countries, bodies, organizations and international committees concerned with this sector.”
