Under the slogan “20 years of integrity and excellence”, the Qatari Combating Doping Committee (QADA) organized, yesterday, a national event on the occasion of the twenty years since its establishment, and the inauguration of its new headquarters in the capital, Doha, in the presence of His Excellency the President of the World Anti -Doping Agency (WADA), Mr. Vitold Panka, and a number of official, sports and media figures from inside and outside Qatar.
This occasion comes within the framework of the committee’s celebration of its institutional transformation march since its foundation in 2005, until its official approval this year as a “independent national agency”, working to enhance a clean sports environment through examination, education, awareness, and commitment to international standards.
The event witnessed the presentation of introductory offers about the QADA strategy for the period 2023-2027, and reviewing the most prominent achievements during the past two decades.
In a move that reflects the firm commitment to the State of Qatar to support the clean sport system at the international level, the World Anti -Doping Agency announced during the event that it received an additional financial contribution of $ 1.5 million from the government of Qatar to support scientific research, in addition to the fixed annual contribution that Doha provides to the agency. This funding is scheduled to be devoted to promoting scientific research within the laboratory approved in Doha, as the committee announced during the event a number of new initiatives, the most prominent of which is the launch of the new national awareness slogan “Just Play” inaugurating the national educational bag in two languages (Arabic and English), presenting the first interactive content allocated to the category of the blind, which was developed in cooperation with the Qatari Center for the Blind
