His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, Minister of Transport, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail), chaired the meeting of the senior management of Qatar Rail in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Turki Al Subaie, Managing Director and CEO of the company.
This came in a tweet on the official account of the Ministry of Transportation on the social networking site “X”, where the company’s performance during the period 2023-2024 was reviewed and future plans were discussed.
His Excellency the Minister of Transportation praised the efforts of the executive management and work team and directed that the best levels of operational performance be provided for the metro and tram to contribute to the country’s vision of securing a distinguished and sustainable modern public transportation network.
On May 8, Qatar Railways Company (Rail) celebrated the 5th anniversary of the launch of Doha Metro services, which was able to provide reliable and safe services and a distinguished transportation experience through which it gained the trust of more than 170 million passengers from the country’s residents and visitors.
The importance of the metro also emerged as an essential pillar in the success system of hosting and organizing more than 20 major events and local, regional and international sports championships witnessed by the country, during which the company adopted unprecedented operational plans to serve the fans of these events and ensure the safety of all users while they were on the network during the past five years.
It is worth noting that this operational performance and the qualitative shift brought about by the Doha Metro in the public transport system in the country contributed to raising the rates of use of public transport, as the metro emerged as an effective and reliable alternative for transportation for the country’s residents and visitors, in light of its network’s connection to the main destinations, event areas and tourist attractions as well as Hamad International Airport and Lusail tram network.
