The Qatari national team begins its campaign in the Asian Volleyball Championship with a loss to its Thai counterpart

The Qatari men’s volleyball team lost to its Thai counterpart by three games to nothing at the beginning of its journey in the 2026 Asian Men’s Championship, which is currently being held in the Japanese city of Fukuoka, and will continue until September 14.

The Qatari team lost by scores of (22-25, 19-25, and 14-25) in the third group competitions.

The South Korean team defeated Chinese Taipei by three games without a response in the second match in the group.

Tomorrow, the Qatari national team will face its Chinese counterpart, Taipei, in the second round of the third group competitions.

The Qatari team is looking forward to making amends and achieving its first victory in the tournament when it meets its counterpart Chinese Taipei, before concluding its group stage matches against South Korea on September 8.

The first and second placed teams from each group qualify for the quarter-finals, along with the best third placed team.

The Qatari national team is seeking to qualify for the knockout rounds and pass the group stage, before competing in the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games scheduled in Japan during the period from September 19 to October 4.
