Tomorrow, Sunday, the Qatari national team will meet its Bahraini counterpart in the final match of the 23rd Arab Volleyball Championship, currently being held in Bahrain, with the participation of 8 teams.
The Qatari team qualified for the final after defeating the Tunisian team with a score of (3-1) in the semi-final match that took place yesterday evening, Friday.
The results of the match were (19 – 25), (25 – 19), (25 – 22) and (25 – 21).
On the other hand, the Bahraini team qualified for the final at the expense of the Omani team by three clean games.
The Qatari team qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament after defeating its Iraqi counterpart with a score of (3-1), in the quarter-finals and after topping the second group in the group stage with a full score by defeating the Saudi team with a score of (3-1), then its Jordanian counterpart (3). – Zero), and against the Kuwaiti national team (3-1).
Eight teams are participating in the tournament, divided into two groups. The first group includes the teams of the Sultanate of Oman, Iraq, Tunisia and Bahrain, while the second group includes the teams of Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
The list of Qatari national team players participating in the tournament includes: Youssef Aghlaf, Mubarak Al-Kuwari, Muhammad Al-Sharshni, Papi Majit, Renan Ribeiro, Othman Abdel-Wahed, Nicola, Abdul-Rahman Bakri, Burbaslav, Youssef Al-Yafei, Irfan Assadi, Naji Mahmoud and Muhammad Al-Wali.
Mr. Ali Ghanem Al Kuwari, President of the Qatar Volleyball Association, expressed his happiness at the team’s qualification to the final of the tournament, following the well-deserved victory over the Tunisian team in the semi-final.
In his statement today, Al-Kuwari praised the outstanding results of the team in the tournament and the wonderful performance of the young players against Tunisia in the semi-finals after a strong match on both sides, where the Tunisian team gave an outstanding performance, especially in the first half. But the Qatari national team players showed a high fighting spirit and succeeded in turning the result in their favor.
He said that qualifying for the final match was not a coincidence, but rather the result of serious preparations and great efforts from the technical and administrative staff and players throughout the tournament, adding, “We are proud of the performance the team has presented so far, and we look forward to achieving the best to make the Qatari fans happy.”
Regarding the expected final match against the Bahraini national team, Al-Kuwari said: “We are fully aware of the difficulty of the next match, especially since it will be against the Bahraini national team, which has distinguished players and has the advantage of playing on its home soil and among its fans. We are confident in the capabilities of our players, to participate in this confrontation,” and he expected that it will be A strong and exciting match that reflects the high level reached by both teams.
