Today, the State of Qatar chaired the 23rd meeting of the Committee of Heads of Civil Retirement and Social Insurance Services in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The meeting, which was chaired by His Excellency Mr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Hammadi, Director General of the General Authority for Civil Retirement and Social Insurance, discussed the follow-up report on the committee’s work plan, the statistical indicators for implementing the unified system for extending insurance protection, the governance of the work of the technical committee, periodic seminars, and the Civil Retirement and Social Insurance Funds Award for Research. scientific research, and proposals submitted by member states and the General Secretariat, in addition to targeting workers who are not registered in the unified system.
During the opening of the meeting, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed bin Ali Al Hammadi said that this occasion provides an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences in the fields of retirement and social insurance, and to enhance cooperation between retirement systems in the Gulf countries in order to achieve social security and economic stability for their citizens, highlighting that the meeting comes in light of great challenges. Civil retirement and social insurance systems are facing, among other things, demographic changes and demographics, which increases the importance of the responsibility placed on those concerned in finding innovative and sustainable solutions to support the stability of these systems, as this necessitates the importance of developing legislation and programs, in line with international best practices, while preserving On the privacy and needs of Gulf societies.
He praised the efforts of the General Retirement and Social Security Authority in joint work, supporting social programs, and providing a decent and safe life for citizens, stressing the importance of updating studies and relying on global indicators and statistics to continuously develop systems.
For his part, His Excellency Engineer Abdullah Ali Al-Rubaie, Head of the Human and Environmental Affairs Sector at the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, praised the efforts made to advance this sector, and the cooperation and interest shown by everyone to support the process of joint Gulf action.
On the sidelines of the meeting, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Finance, leading figures in the field of civil retirement and social insurance were honored. In recognition of their outstanding efforts and outstanding contributions to supporting and developing the civil retirement and social insurance sector..
His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari noted, in a speech on the occasion, that the hosting of this meeting by the General Retirement and Social Security Authority reflects the keenness of the GCC states to join efforts to ensure the sustainability of retirement and social insurance systems, with a focus on reviewing effective strategies to develop these systems, stressing that cooperation Coordination represents an essential pillar for achieving joint success, as this cooperation has contributed to stimulating innovation in pension systems, including supporting research projects through the second edition of the Retirement Funds and Investment Insurance Award.
It is worth noting that the Committee of Heads of Civil Retirement and Social Insurance Agencies in the Gulf Cooperation Council was established with the aim of enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences between member states in the field of civil retirement and social insurance, and its meetings have been held annually since 2001, focusing on improving retirement systems and ensuring social protection for citizens of the GCC countries.
