The event witnessed the participation of a group of the most prominent stars of the game from various parts of the world, amid a large audience attendance that reflects the growing status that the sport of padel enjoys globally.
This event comes as a prelude to the upcoming New Giza Premier Padel P2 Championship, and witnessed the participation of a group of the most prominent padel players in the world, including the two Argentine stars, Franco Stopachuk (ranked seventh in the world according to the International Padel Federation), who previously won the New Giza P1 Championship title, and Maxi. Sanchez (ranked 22nd in the world), along with Qatari player Mohamed Saadoun and local hero Khaled Naji. In the women’s competition, Spanish star Marta Ortega (ranked seventh in the world) and Portuguese Sofia Araujo (ranked ninth in the world) joined the two rising Egyptian stars, Maura Hakim and Laila El-Mammar, to present enthusiastic matches characterized by competition and sportsmanship.
The sporting event witnessed the presence of a group of prominent sports figures, including Dr. Ashraf Sobhi Amer, Minister of Youth and Sports; Khaled El Shawarby, tournament director; Luigi Carraro, President of the International Padel Federation; and David Sugden, CEO of the Premier Paddle Tour. During their speeches, the guests emphasized the remarkable development witnessed by the sport of padel in Egypt and the world, stressing the importance of these tournaments in enhancing the status of the sport and building strong sports communities.
The Grand Egyptian Museum, which opened its doors to visitors on October 16, hosted this unique sporting event. The exhibition matches held at the Grand Egyptian Museum provided a special evening for the fans, combining enthusiasm and history. This tournament comes in its second edition to provide an additional dose of excitement and suspense, as it is expected to witness stronger competitions than the 2022 tournament, in which player Franco Stabachuk won the title in partnership with Pablo Lima. This year is expected to witness fierce competition between the best players for the championship title in Cairo.
