The Ministry of Trade and Industry organized a dialogue workshop entitled “Forum of Trust Funds and Companies Service Providers” to enhance knowledge of the requirements for combating money laundering, terrorist financing, and proliferation financing.
The Ministry confirmed in a statement today that organizing this forum comes within the framework of its keenness to enhance communication and cooperation with trust fund service providers and companies, raise the level of awareness of the requirements for combating money laundering and terrorist financing, and discuss the most prominent challenges facing them and the practical mechanisms for addressing them, noting that the sector of trust fund service providers and companies is one of the important sectors in the national system for combating money laundering and terrorist financing, given its role in establishing and managing legal structures and ownership arrangements, which makes adherence to regulatory and supervisory requirements An essential pillar for enhancing transparency and protecting the national economy, stressing the importance of exchanging experiences to reach solutions that enhance transparency and efficiency of the sector, especially in light of the State of Qatar’s readiness for the upcoming mutual evaluation.
She explained that organizing this forum comes within the framework of the importance of enhancing economic integrity, protecting the financial system from financial crimes, enhancing knowledge of the requirements for combating money laundering, terrorist financing and the financing of proliferation among subject entities, identifying the most prominent practical challenges and gaps that have been monitored through supervisory work, and working jointly to discuss them and determine ways to address them, in a way that enhances compliance and raises the effectiveness of the sector, in a way that supports the state’s efforts to confront the risks of money laundering and financing of terrorism, and achieve sustainable development, based on the Qatar National Vision aimed at To build a strong, competitive and transparent economy.
