Hospitals in the Gaza Strip for two years of the Israeli genocide war were only direct military targets of the devastating war machine, as they bombed, stormed and turned many of them into rubble.
On the extension of 24 months, hospital image has changed from a haven for patients and wounded to shelling and siege arenas, to collapse the health system under the weight of thousands of wounded and patients who left without medicine, operation rooms or medical care.
Today, only a few dilapidated hospitals remain partially operating amid a suffocating deficit in the family, medicines and cadres.
While the majority were taken out of service, leaving entire families without treatment, and children who leave life or bleeding in front of the doors of destroyed hospitals.
Since the beginning of the extermination war on October 7, 2023, Israel has prevented the entry of humanitarian, medical and fuel aid to the Palestinians, except for a few of them for international institutions, which does not meet the needs of citizens.
The Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Munir Al -Barash, said that the number of public and private hospitals in the sector is 38, all of which were subjected to direct targeting. He explained to Anatolia that the ministry managed to rehabilitate only 16 hospitals to work partially, while 22 hospitals were completely deviated from service.
Al -Barash added that the current absorptive capacity does not exceed two thousand beds, after it was before the war up to 6 thousand beds.
He pointed out that there is a large shortage of medicines, which has become about 50% of its assets, as well as 65% of the supplies ran out.
He pointed out that targeting and abusing health cadres resulted in 1671 martyrs, and about 362 detainees in Israeli prisons since the outbreak of the war.
In this context, the Anatolia correspondent monitors the most prominent Israeli hospitals since the beginning of the genocide:
European Gaza Hospital
The first targeting of the European Gaza Hospital in Khan Yunis was the southern Gaza Strip, on October 17, 2023, when the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced at the time that parts of it were damaged by an Israeli bombing of its long entrance.
Since then, targeting and evacuation have rolled during the extermination war, until it came in May 2025 to stop working completely.
According to the World Health Organization, the closure of the government hospital has cut off vital services, including neurosurgery, cardiovision, and cancer treatment, which are not available anywhere in Gaza.
The hospital was established in 2000 with a capacity of about 308 families, and serves a segment of about 500 thousand citizens, and is one of the most prominent medical facilities in the southern sector.
Al -Shifa Complex

On July 12, 2024, the hospital was again exposed to Israeli air strikes and artillery, which led to its destruction and the complete service.
The hospital was established in 1980 in the Al -Remal neighborhood of Gaza, and its capacity reaches 19 beds, but with the Israeli attacks its ability was raised to more than 100 beds, according to Palestinian medical sources.
The hospital is followed by the Patient Friends Charitable Society, a non -profit civil institution founded in 1980.
Kamal Adwan Hospital
In December 2023, the Israeli army destroyed large parts of the Kamal Adwan Governmental Hospital in the town of Beit Lahia, in the north of the Strip, including its vital devices.
In May 2024, the Israeli army was targeting the hospital through air strikes that destroyed its power generators.
On January 19, 2024, the UN OCHA Coordination Office announced that the hospital had partially resumed its work in the middle of the same month, but he continued to face great challenges.
But late December 2024, the Israeli army arrested the director of the hospital, Dr. Hossam Abu Safia, 52, after storming, destroying and removing it from service.
The hospital is the main in the northern Gaza Strip Governorate, and it consists of 4 buildings and includes emergency departments, general reception, reception of children, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, internal, children, intensive care, radiology, laboratory and pharmacy, in addition to administrative and service departments.

At that time, the army forces arrested Adnan Al -Barash, the most famous Gaza surgeons, while he was in the hospital, along with a group of doctors, before announcing his death in Israel’s prisons at a later time.
In January 2024, the Israeli artillery bombed the hospital and targeted one of its buildings, damaging many medical devices.
In May 2025, the hospital administration announced that the Israeli army began evacuating patients and medical staff forcibly from inside it.
Since that time, the fate of the hospital, which has been severely damaged, has been known as a result of Israeli strikes during the past months.
Indonesian hospital
In November 2023, the Israeli army destroyed parts of the Indonesian Hospital (government) in the town of Beit Lahia, burned a number of its floors and removed it from service partially.

The hospital was established on an area of about 4.5 dunums (the dunum equivalent to one thousand square meters) in 1997, and it consists of 5 floors.
The hospital includes 100 beds in the departments of surgery, women and childbirth, public and special operations for the eyes, nerves, brain, joint transplantation, psychotherapy, radiology, laboratory and dentistry, all of which are partially operating now.

This government hospital is the most important south of the Strip, and it used to serve the citizens of the cities of Khan Yunis and Rafah before the Israeli war.
After the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from it, the Ministry of Health in Gaza and international organizations such as the Red Cross and the World Health Organization tried to resume work in it, but in a limited way.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has committed genocide in Gaza that includes killing, starvation, destruction and forced displacement, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to stop them.
The extermination left 67,160 martyrs, 169,679 wounded, most of them children and women, and the famine that has been tired of the lives of 460 Palestinians, including 154 children.
