“Visit Qatar” launched its activities in the cities of Berlin and Munich in the Republic of Germany as part of its partnership with the European Nations Football Championship “Euro 2024”. Through this partnership with the first international football tournament in Europe, it aims to provide cultural attractions in Qatar and luxurious amenities that… Presenting it to a wider audience.
Commenting on this, His Excellency Mr. Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, President of Qatar Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Visit Qatar, said: “This partnership comes as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance cultural exchange and provide diverse offers about Qatar. Qatar Tourism and UEFA share a commitment to transcending cultural barriers and celebrating cultural diversity between countries through sport, which inspires fans from all over the world.”
Al-Kharji stressed that the State of Qatar aims to consolidate its position as a global sports destination, and the importance of Doha’s sporting legacy lies in its successful record in hosting and supporting major sporting events.
In turn, Engineer Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, pointed out that Visit Qatar seeks, through partnership with the European Football Association, to establish a bridge between cultures in order to welcome the world to explore the unique blend of tradition and modernity that Qatar offers. He said: “We celebrate diversity and strengthen cultural ties through sports, as Qatar has acquired an amazing sporting legacy that is demonstrated by the country’s proven track record in hosting and supporting major sporting events. This partnership comes as an essential addition to the country’s determination to become a global sports centre.”
Highlights of events
Visit Qatar successfully launched three tournament-specific events, the first of which is “The Doha Club” activities, which will be located in the UEFA Euro 2024 fan zones in Berlin and Munich throughout the tournament. This event was designed as a modern beach club, to provide fans with a unique experience similar to the beaches in Qatar. It is a place for fans to learn about local Qatari traditions such as drinking Arabic coffee, karak (milk tea) and sweets. Visitors can participate in the game of “Football”, the popular game of Damma, try the Qatari Bisht, collect souvenirs, and experience the distinctive Qatari hospitality.
Promotional campaign
The second event comes in the form of a promotional campaign for a temporary stop in Qatar. The campaign shows the championship trophy traveling within Qatar, targeting key European markets, including the UK, Germany and France. As for the third event, Visit Qatar is the presenting partner for the virtual European Football Championship 2024, where participants have the opportunity to win prizes and tickets to the actual tournament matches.
It is worth noting that the State of Qatar has gained a world-class reputation as a center for international sports tournaments, including the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the AFC Asian Football Cup Qatar 2023TM, to name a few.
Qatar is also preparing to host the 2027 FIBA World Cup and the 2030 Asian Games. Hosting these global sporting events demonstrates the modern and advanced infrastructure, organizational capabilities and commitment to excellence in the State of Qatar.
