The Qatar Table Tennis Association participated in the second meeting of the Board of Directors of the West Asian Table Tennis Federation, which was held via video communication technology.
The meeting reviewed the report on the West Asian Championship for National Teams, which was held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, during the period from 12 to 19 last August, which witnessed the participation of 10 countries, with a total of 241 male and female players in team competitions, 152 in singles, and 75 pairs in doubles competitions, in addition to the implementation of a new system for team competitions. During the meeting, the Board of Directors approved holding the next West Asian Club Championship in Medina, Saudi Arabia, during December 2026.
For his part, Ahmed Khalil Al-Muhannadi, Secretary-General of the Qatari and West Asian Table Tennis Federations, confirmed that work will begin early to complete all organizational arrangements for the West Asian Club Championship scheduled in Medina.
He noted the continued efforts to speed up the procedures and send official invitation letters to the member federations as soon as possible, in order to ensure broad participation that contributes to the tournament emerging in a way that befits the status of table tennis in the region.
Al-Muhannadi praised the Qatari presence within the West Asian Table Tennis Federation system, saying, “This strong presence reflects the position enjoyed by Qatari competencies in regional and continental sports work.” He also stressed that this represents a great responsibility that requires contributing effectively to the development of tournaments, programs and projects that serve the future of table tennis in the region.
