World Health announces the vaccination of more than 10,000 children in Gaza

Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the organization and its partners have vaccinated more than 10,000 children in Gaza to protect them from diseases.

He pointed out that the campaign is being implemented in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip.

He explained that the vaccination campaign aims to protect children from diseases including measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B, tuberculosis, polio and pneumonia.

He pointed out that the second and third phases of the campaign are planned for next December and January 2026.

He stated that the World Health Organization’s monitoring teams are present in the field to ensure the quality and comprehensiveness of the vaccination campaign, expressing his pleasure at the continuation of the ceasefire.

On November 9, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip launched a catch-up vaccination campaign targeting children under the age of three who missed basic vaccinations over the two years of the genocidal war committed by Israel.

The ceasefire agreement that entered into force on October 10 ended the genocide in Gaza, which resulted in more than 69,000 Palestinian martyrs and more than 170,000 injured, most of whom were children and women.
