The French and Brazilian teams qualified for the semi-finals of the U-17 World Volleyball Championship (Doha 2026), after achieving victory in the quarter-finals today.
The French team continued its journey steadily after defeating its Romanian counterpart in three games without a response, by (25-17), (25-19) and (25-21), to reserve its place in the golden square and strengthen its ambitions to compete for the title.
In the second confrontation, the Brazilian team confirmed its strength by defeating its Venezuelan counterpart in three games to no return, by (25-19), (25-13), and (25-14), to reach the semi-finals and set a date with the French team in an anticipated confrontation.
The confrontation between France and Brazil will be held tomorrow, Friday, in the Aspire Zone, in one of the most prominent semi-final matches, in light of the strong level shown by the two teams since the start of the tournament.
The French team reached the quarter-finals after defeating Spain by three sets to two in the round of 16, while the Brazilian team qualified for the quarter-finals after defeating India by three sets to no response, while Romania reserved its place in the quarter-finals after defeating Tunisia by three sets to one, and Venezuela qualified after beating Bulgaria by three sets to two.
The quarter-finals will be completed later today with two matches, the first bringing together the Iranian and Pakistani teams, while the Argentine and Polish teams will meet in the second, to determine the second party in the other semi-final.
The curtain will fall on the tournament competitions the day after tomorrow, Saturday, in Aspire Zone, with a ranking match to determine third and fourth places, followed by the final match, the winner of which will be crowned champion of the second edition of the tournament.
