The X platform announced the development of a “downvote” feature, which is used to improve the classification of responses. The results of testing this feature, according to what was reported by the “TechCrunch” website, which specializes in technology and information, showed that “downvote” actually resembles a “dislike” button instead of a downvote icon, similar to the news site “Reddit.”
The code references in the iOS X app now show a button that resembles a broken heart next to the famous “Like” button.
In current tests, it appears that X will only allow downvoting on replies, with the goal of displaying the best replies at the top of long message threads, and moving the less liked replies to the bottom.
This feature is similar to Twitter’s experiment in 2021, when it tested “downvoting” before American businessman Elon Musk acquired the platform.
