The official competitions of the Jebel Sifah International Fishing Championship, hosted by the Sultanate of Oman for the first time in the Gulf countries, have begun.

There are 18 teams competing for the title of the first edition of the largest international tournament of its kind in the Gulf, including 70 fishermen from 10 different countries, including Kuwait, the Emirates, Egypt, Turkey, China and Iran.

The teams set out on their fishing trip on the first day of the competition in the depths of the Sea of ​​Oman for ten continuous hours every day from six in the morning until four in the evening, to catch the largest possible amount of fish and try to catch the rare “marley” fish, and catch the largest tuna weight.

The intense fishing activities will continue for another ten hours on the third and closing day of the Jebel Sifah Championship, and the curtain will come down with an official awards ceremony in the marina to crown the top three places in the tournament, which automatically qualify for the World Cup of Fishing competitions to be held in Costa Rica next year.
