The head of the Tax Department participates in the Belt and Road Initiative conference

His Excellency Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari, Chairman of the General Tax Authority, participated in the fifth annual conference of the Belt and Road Initiative for Cooperation of Tax Administrations, held in Hong Kong during the period from 24 to 26 September, in the presence of Mr. John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. This participation confirms the Authority’s commitment to enhancing transparency and international cooperation in the tax field, exchanging experiences with its counterparts around the world, and its constant endeavor to develop its tax system in line with best global practices and highlighting its pivotal role in achieving sustainable economic development at the local and international levels.
The conference witnessed a prominent presence of heads and representatives of tax administrations around the world, in addition to representatives of international organizations, academic institutions and the business sector. Discussions focused on ways to provide an effective platform to facilitate cooperation in the field of tax administration and capacity building between tax administrations supporting the Belt and Road Initiative, and to enhance their constructive dialogue.
