The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in coordination with the Ministry of Municipality, announced the launch of the national initiative to encourage local production and support sacrifices for the year 1447 AH – 2026 AD, as sales began as of yesterday, Thursday, while the last day for selling sacrifices will be the third day of Tashreeq, corresponding to Saturday 13 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH, corresponding to May 30, 2026.
The initiative aims to support the local product and provide sacrificial animals at reasonable prices to citizens. The Ministry explained that the sale to Qatari citizens is at the rate of one head of sacrifice for each Qatari ID card, provided that the beneficiary’s age is not less than 18 years. The Ministry indicated that the selling price of local lamb is 1,000 riyals, while the selling price of imported lamb is 1,000 riyals.
The Ministry added that the sacrifices are sold in the barns of the Widam Food Company in the North, Al Khor, Umm Salal, Al Wakra, Al Shahaniya, and Abu Nakhla, and through the electronic application of the Widam Company.
The Ministry also indicated that the slaughtering, cutting, packaging and loading fees amount to 50 riyals, which includes 16 riyals for slaughtering, cutting and packaging fees, and 34 riyals for loading fees, through separate coupons.
The Ministry explained that beneficiary citizens can use the coupon for slaughtering, cutting and packaging from the beginning of the initiative until the end of December 2026, if the consumer does not wish to slaughter immediately.
