Qatar Gas Transport Company Limited Tankers announced today the start of manufacturing 17 tankers in the Hyundai Heavy Industries Company in the South Korean city of Ulsan.
This came during a ceremony to launch the signal of the start of the manufacturing phase of these advanced ships, which are fully owned by a carrier company, which has a capacity of 174 thousand cubic meters, in the presence of a number of senior officials of the Nottal and Hyundai Heavy Industries companies and those interested in the maritime transport industry.
Qatar for the Transport of Gas Limited, in a statement today, stated that ships will be rented to Qatar Energy companies under long -term rental agreements.
These ships come within the Qatar Energy Program to build their new fleet of liquefied natural gas carriers, which aims to update their current fleet and meet future requirements related to LNG expansion projects.
Engineer Abdullah Al -Sulaiti, CEO of the company /Naqlalat, said in a statement on this occasion, that this event is another pivotal stage in the march of carriers towards achieving its long -term development strategy, by continuing the modernization and expansion of its fleet.
He added: “This cooperation with Qatar Energy and Hyundai Heavy Industries represents to start construction work, an important moment that reflects our continuous commitment to supporting Qatar’s vision in the field of liquefied natural gas through a global fleet, where these ships are characterized by the latest advanced technologies, which ensures higher operational and reliability efficiency in applying international standards in environmental sustainability, while we continue to enhance our position as a leading company in the shipping and marine services sector at the global level.”
The Qatar Gas Transport Company, Ltd. / Tankers / had signed a number of agreements with Qatar Energy in February 2024 to rent and operate 25 liquefied natural gas tankers of traditional size, to be the owner and operator of these modern ships that will be built in Korean shipbuilding basins, which enhances the position / tankers / a leading global company in the field of liquefied natural gas.
The new carriers are distinguished by their advanced designs and innovative technologies that reflect the commitment / vector / to apply the highest safety and operational excellence standards, in addition to heading towards a more efficient environmental sustainability, and this achievement is a pivotal step in enhancing the company’s ability to meet the increasing demand in the field of liquefied natural gas and enhance its leading position in the field.
