The Ministry of Trade and Industry announced the issuance of administrative decision No. (172025) to close a month against Al-Waha Motor Company- Getur, for violating Article No. (16) of Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding the protection of the consumer and its executive regulations, due to the failure to provide spare parts and its delay in providing after-sales services.
The number of violations registered on the company reached 45 violations of the same type, in addition to the ministry receiving more than 300 complaints from consumers regarding the same issue.
Despite the issuance of several previous alerts, the company did not correct its conditions, which necessitated the application of the punishment in accordance with the approved legal procedures. This step comes within the framework of the continuous supervisory efforts implemented by the Ministry to follow up the commitment of companies and commercial institutions to consumers’ rights, and to ensure the provision of services in the required quality, in a manner that enhances a fair and safe commercial environment in the country.
The ministry confirmed that it will not tolerate any facility that violates the provisions of Law No. (8) of 2008 regarding consumer protection, and will continue its inspection campaigns, and take the necessary measures against violators, including closure and referral to the competent authorities.
