The General Authority for Customs confirmed that the Gulf Economic Operator Program provides a package of advantages and facilities that contribute to facilitating procedures and enhancing the efficiency of customs processes, in order to enhance the business environment and support commercial growth. In an effort by the General Customs Authority to develop partnership relations and cooperation with the private sector to facilitate the movement of international trade in line with the standards of the World Customs Organization, the approved economic program was launched in the State of Qatar in the year 2019, and work was launched with a unified Gulf program (the Gulf Economic Operator Program) at the beginning of 2023.
The authority indicated that the program provides a package of the agreed advantages and facilities for the economic operator that meets the standards stipulated in the Gulf Economic Operator Program, in the framework of the work of security standards and facilitation of supply chain in international trade «Saif) for the World Customs Organization.
As for the conditions for presentation and joining, the authority determined it as follows:
-The program can be submitted by each party participating in the supply chain in international trade after completing the initial conditions and filling in the program’s self -evaluation questionnaire.
– Opening is accepted if the conditions related to the security and safety of the supply chain are met.
-Electronically submitted through the electronic system of customs clearance, “Nadib”.
The Gulf advantages include the program:
– Diagling advantages by accelerating the customs release through simplified procedures
Security advantages by reducing the preview rates based on risk analysis with a priority in the examination
Financial benefits by accepting documentary guarantees
– Advantages with the regulatory and border authorities by providing facilities and support from the relevant authorities
Advantages of mutual recognition agreements by obtaining advantages in other countries
As for the national advantages provided by the General Customs Authority, it includes additional local advantages for the approved authorities, according to the category of accreditation.
Among the most important general advantages: Service of senior customers at the Communication Center 136, allocating communication officers in customs departments and outlets, using the program logo in transactions, obtaining an accredited certificate, including the names of the approved authorities on the site.
The “Customs” stated through its official account in “X” that one of the most important advantages for the category of import and export: clearance through the green lane, clearance with a copy of the documents, accepting a written pledge instead of financial guarantees.
And on the most important advantages of the customs clearance category, the authority referred to the reduction in the guarantee from 500,000 Qatari riyals to 250,000 Qatari riyals, and the limit of the license period with three years, and linking the validity period of the Savior card to the period of validity of the residence permit.
