Qatar Tourism announced that the option to extend the temporary hotel stay that was provided to visitors affected by the travel disruption was suspended yesterday, Saturday, March 14, as it contributed to giving guests additional time to make the necessary travel arrangements to return to their destinations.
Qatar Tourism said in a statement that this temporary measure has been implemented to support visitors whose travel plans have been disrupted due to the exceptional circumstances that the region is currently going through. A free hotel stay extension was provided to eligible visitors whose flights were canceled or disrupted from February 28 until yesterday in hotels, and this included accommodation in the same room category and three daily meals, in coordination between Qatar Tourism and hospitality sector partners.
The statement stressed that visitors must complete their travel arrangements by contacting the reception staff at the hotel in which they are staying for further support and guidance, or calling the Qatar Tourism hotline at 106, or the international line at +974 4406 9921.
Qatar Tourism has confirmed its permanent commitment to supporting visitors and working closely with its partners in the tourism and hospitality sectors to ensure that guests of the State of Qatar continue to receive the necessary assistance and services. This is based on its established values of welcoming visitors and hospitality, and its great concern for the care, comfort and well-being of all its guests.
She pointed out that during this period, the concerned authorities carried out close and continuous coordination to maintain an integrated support system and clear communication channels, to ensure the provision of the necessary assistance whenever needed. The safety of visitors remains the primary motivation and main guide for all measures taken.
Qatar Tourism invited visitors to contact the hotline to obtain instructions and support or any tourist assistance, stressing that the service is operating at full capacity and is fully prepared to respond to the needs of visitors and meet them during this stage.
It recommended that travelers wait for official notifications from the relevant airlines regarding their travel arrangements, and not to go to the airport unless asked to do so. This is after temporarily resuming operational operations by decision of the competent authorities and reopening the airspace temporarily to evacuate the stranded.
The State of Qatar had taken the initiative to extend visas and entry permits to all affected visitors automatically, and without any fees, for those whose scheduled stay had expired and who were unable to leave due to the suspension of flights.
Qatar Tourism recommended following updates issued by official government agencies and aviation authorities and relying only on reliable channels to obtain accurate information.
