The Ministry of Commerce and Industry intensified inspection campaigns and field tours to markets and commercial complexes during the days of Eid to ensure the availability of food and basic goods and products therein, in addition to reviewing the progress of production operations and ensuring that production factories continue to operate at full capacity, the readiness of operating lines, and the efficiency of supply chains, ensuring that the needs of the local market are met regularly and completely.
These campaigns stressed the importance of having a sufficient strategic stock of products, ensuring the smooth supply of commercial outlets and the sale of goods to consumers.

Direct coordination with factories and suppliers
Field follow-up showed the regularity of supply and transportation operations to various sales outlets during the Eid days, as supply chains proceed normally and regularly, reflecting the sector’s readiness and ability to meet the market’s needs on an ongoing basis.
The Ministry confirmed its continued implementation of monitoring rounds and direct coordination with factories and suppliers, to ensure market stability and enhance consumer confidence, stressing that all goods and foodstuffs are available in sufficient quantities in the markets.
Coordination is being made with the managements of 33 of the major branches open 24 hours a day in various regions of the country, ensuring that the abundance of goods is enhanced and that consumers are able to obtain their needs easily and conveniently.
The Ministry affirms its continued keenness to ensure the availability of various options of high quality, calling on consumers to report any observations or violations through the approved official channels in confirmation of its commitment to protecting the consumer and maintaining market stability.
This comes within the framework of the Ministry’s continued keenness to enhance market stability, ensure the flow of supply chains, and ensure the availability of goods and products in ample quantities at all sales outlets in the country, in a way that meets the needs of consumers, enhances market stability, and continues the natural and regular flow of goods.

Natural movement in the markets
Al-Arab monitored the natural movement in the markets during the second day of Eid, and consumers shopping according to their usual rates without overdoing it or storing any food items, due to their availability without any deficiency, in addition to awareness campaigns carried out by the competent authorities, during which they called on consumers to adhere to the official guidelines and buy according to need and to promote the culture of conscious consumption and avoid excessive storage, in light of the current circumstances that the region is going through.
The Ministry revealed that the national factories for food materials and commodities contribute to achieving food security and that they are working at full production capacity to provide goods in the market without any shortages.
She explained that the industrial sector includes more than 138 national food factories, which produce a variety of products with high quality, and operate at full operational capacity to ensure that the needs of the local market are met, including:

24 factories producing dairy products
16 factories producing meat and fish
15 factories producing baked goods and pasta
10 factories for packing and grinding grains
2 sugar packing plant
5 biscuits and sweets factories
9 vegetable factories
9 juice factories
4 factories for spices and sauces
5 factories for manufacturing dates
9 edible oil factories
5 coffee and nut factories
7 food industries and ready-made meals factories
She stressed that the national industry is capable of competing and achieving self-sufficiency, as coordination is currently being made with these factories to overcome any problems they may face.

Detailed invoice upon purchase

On the other hand, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry called on all consumers and shoppers to be careful to obtain a detailed invoice when purchasing, as it is the basic guarantee for preserving consumers’ rights. The Ministry explained the necessity of ensuring that the invoice includes: the name of the store, its address, and the date of the invoice – the condition of the item (new or used) – the type of item or service and its specifications – the serial number, if any – the price of the item in Qatari riyals – the delivery date – the quantity or number of units – the signature or stamp of the store… and stressed that the invoice is the primary reference when exchanging or submitting Complaint.
It stressed the Ministry’s keenness to monitor markets in all regions of the country to ensure compliance with the laws and regulations regulating the commercial sector and protecting the rights of consumers.
The Ministry stressed that it will firmly confront anyone who neglects to carry out its obligations stipulated in Law No. (5) of 2015 regarding industrial and similar public shops and street vendors, and Ministerial Resolution No. 243 of 2016 regarding controls and requirements for licenses to practice street vendor activity.
The Ministry is working to intensify its inspection campaigns to control violating practices, and to refer violators of laws and ministerial decisions to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures against them.

On the other hand, the Ministry explains that the Department of Consumer Protection and Combating Commercial Fraud has an important role in protecting markets and consumers, as it implements the provisions of legislation regulating the protection of consumer rights and combating commercial fraud. And take the necessary measures to protect the consumer, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
