The Qatari national team will meet tomorrow in Jeddah with its Saudi counterpart at the conclusion of the third window of the Asian qualifiers for the Basketball World Cup (Qatar 2027).

The confrontation bears a strong competitive nature, although the calculations for qualifying to the second stage had previously been decided in favor of the teams of Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

The Lebanese team occupies the lead in the group with 9 points, while the Qatari and Saudi teams are equal with 8 points each, while the Indian team comes in fourth place with 5 points, which reflects a great convergence in level between the first three teams before the end of the third window of the qualifiers.

Although the teams of Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have guaranteed qualification to the second round, the qualifying system, which depends on the transfer of the results of the qualified teams among themselves, gives this match additional importance, as its result will directly affect the ranking of the two teams in the next stage.

The Qatari team is going into the confrontation in high spirits after its victory over the Indian team with a score of 65-56 in the Indian city of Ahmedabad in the first round of the third window stage, in a match during which it was able to return in the second half after a balanced start, to confirm its ability to deal with the pressure of away matches before tomorrow’s confrontation in Jeddah.

On the other hand, the Saudi team enters the match after losing to Lebanon with a score of 82-88 in a strong match that was characterized by competition until the last moments, during which the two teams presented a good competitive image.

The Qatari team had opened its qualifying campaign with a dramatic loss to Lebanon by one point with a score of (74-75) in Doha, before achieving an important victory away from home over the Lebanese team with a score of (86-83), and lost its last match in the fourth round to the Saudi team with a score of 80-86 in Doha.
