Mr. Shaheen bin Jassim Al Sulaiti, Vice President of the Al Arabi Club, confirmed that His Highness the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, may God have mercy on him, was not only a sponsor of sports, but was the owner of a civilized project that made sports one of the most important tools for national development and the international presence of the State of Qatar.
He said that the Father Emir believed that sports invest in people before results, and therefore he put in place plans that contributed to developing the sports structure, qualifying cadres, and creating champions.
Al-Sulaiti explained that the Father Emir made a historic shift in Qatari sports, as it moved from the amateur stage to an integrated professional system, based on planning, investment and sustainability, which was reflected in the performance of clubs, teams and sports federations. He added that, thanks to this vision, Qatar has become a major station for the most important international tournaments, which has strengthened its status and the confidence of international sports institutions in it. He pointed out that the achievements witnessed by Qatari sports today are nothing but a natural extension of the vision set by the Father Emir, stressing that this legacy will remain a source of inspiration for future generations, and will remain a witness to an exceptional leader who made sports a language of communication between peoples and a bridge of love and peace.
