Qatar participates in the 32nd meeting of the Committee of Heads of Gulf Financial Markets Authorities

The State of Qatar participated in the thirty-second meeting of the Committee of Heads of Financial Market Authorities (or their equivalents) in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which was held today via video communication technology.

The State of Qatar was represented at the meeting by His Excellency Dr. Tami bin Ahmed Al-Binali, CEO of the Qatar Financial Markets Authority.

The meeting discussed the follow-up of the implementation of the initiatives referred to the Gulf Capital Markets (Exchanges) Committee, the latest developments in the inter-registration regulations, the minutes of the twenty-fifth meeting of the GCC Financial Market Integration Strategy Working Group, and the minutes of the twenty-seventh, twenty-eighth, twenty-ninth and thirty-ninth meetings of the working group of specialists in communication and investor awareness of the bodies regulating the financial markets in the GCC countries.

During the meeting, the possibility of expanding the scope of the Gulf Smart Investor Award was discussed, which is organized annually within the “Mallam” joint investment awareness program launched by the authorities and bodies regulating the financial markets in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries since 2020 with the aim of enhancing the level of awareness among investors in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, spreading awareness of the basics of investment in the financial markets and methods of fraud and risks, and emphasizing the necessity of adopting strategies that help reduce those risks.

The meeting of the Committee of Heads of Financial Markets Authorities (or their equivalents) in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries also discussed the minutes of the twelfth meeting of the working group responsible for training and studies at the bodies regulating the financial markets in the GCC countries.
