International reserves and liquidity in foreign currencies at the Qatar Central Bank increased last August by 0.75 percent on an annual basis, reaching 262.240 billion riyals, compared to the same period last year, in which it reached 260.282 billion riyals.
Data issued by the Qatar Central Bank today showed that the bank’s official international reserves increased by the end of August 2026 by 9.7 percent, or 19.663 billion riyals, to reach 220.515 billion riyals, compared to the same period last year, while its balances of bonds and foreign treasury bills decreased by about 42.761 billion riyals, to reach 92.433 billion riyals last August, compared to the same month of the year. 2025.
Official reserves consist of main components, which are bonds, foreign treasury bills, cash balances in foreign banks, gold holdings, Special Drawing Rights deposits, and the State of Qatar’s share in the International Monetary Fund, in addition to other liquid assets “that are deposits in foreign currency”, so that the two together constitute what is known as total international reserves.
The data also showed an increase in gold stocks by the end of last August by about 13.604 billion riyals, reaching 60.087 billion riyals, compared to August last year, which recorded a level of 46.483 billion riyals. Balances in foreign banks also increased by about 48.831 billion riyals, reaching a level of 62.763 billion riyals at the end of last month.
On the other hand, the balance of Special Drawing Rights deposits from the State of Qatar’s share with the International Monetary Fund declined by the end of last August by 13 million riyals, compared to August 2025, reaching the level of 5.230 billion riyals.
