The Qatar Social and Cultural Center for the Blind concluded its mid-semester activities with a workshop on the art of writing the cultural article, presented by the Qatari academic, Dr. Ali Al Ibrahim, in which he shed light on the art of writing the journalistic article, and the pillars of the article that consist of the title, introduction, body of the topic, and conclusion. He also pointed out the reason that drives the writer to write his article, which is either to convey information, or to raise awareness of certain things happening in society, or to change a position. Regarding the types of articles, the lecturer explained that they are limited to the editorial, vertical, and analytical article. Critical, and journalistic diary articles.
The center’s attendees interacted with the information, experiences and expertise that was presented during the workshop, and asked various questions and inquiries.
The activities, which targeted members of the center of both sexes, continued for a week and included many cultural, social, sporting, educational and recreational activities and external participation. A training course was organized for blind women in the principles of therapeutic massage, presented by expert Hanan Hussein. It lasted for two days, in which the basics of massage were learned and its importance in treating many diseases, in addition to providing practical training on how to perform a massage in a correct way for the hands and feet, and knowing the special parts of it that are related to the different parts of the body.
The center’s members of both genders also visited the exhibition of metal, gemstones and pearls by the international artist Patrick Rosario, to learn about his art through his paintings creatively made of metal, natural pearls, and crystal pieces by touching them and audio descriptions of them. During the activities, the center’s members attended the final of the fourth university debate championship, which witnessed the Qatar University team winning the championship.
