Asian Games 2026.. The Qatari Federation announces the list of the Olympic team participating in the football competition

The Qatar Football Association announced today the final list of the Olympic team that will compete in the football competition in the 2026 Asian Games, which will be held in the Japanese city of Aichi-Nagoya during the period from September 19 to October 4.

The Spanish Jose Angel Lacunza, coach of the Qatari under-23 team, chose a list of 23 players, namely: Abu Bakr Muhammad, Jalal Amir, and Muhammad Fawzi in goalkeeping, along with the players: Muhammad Hani, Faisal Muhammad, Yaman Jarrar, Bassam Adel, Zaid Burhan, Ali Shihabi, Al-Waleed Muhammad, Atef Magdy, Jassim Al-Hamad, Muhammad Ali, Moaz Ibrahim, Youssef Muhammad, Nawaf Al-Yahri, and Tamim. Al-Qadi, Ziad Fadi, Qais Al-Rawi, Nasser Adel, Muhammad Khaled, Marwan Sharif, and Ghanem Al-Menhali.

The Qatari Olympic team delegation left Doha at dawn today for the city of Aichi-Nagoya, to participate in the competition that will begin on the 15th of this month, that is, before the official opening of the tournament, scheduled for the 19th of the same month.

The draw for the football competition in the tournament placed the Qatari team in the fourth group, along with the South Korean and Saudi teams, in a strong competition in order to qualify for the knockout rounds.

The football competitions in the tournament will witness the participation of 15 teams, distributed into four groups, each group containing four teams, with the exception of the fourth group, which includes only three teams.

According to the competition system, the group stage competitions are held in a one-stage league system, and the first and second place finishers from each group qualify for the quarter-finals, before completing the tournament with a knockout system until the final match and the third place match.
