Our national skydiving team, “Goal Team,” continued its brilliance on the international scene, after winning the gold medal and first place in the team competition in the SWCS Locarno Final, which was held in the Swiss city of Locarno, with the participation of 35 teams representing 16 countries.
This distinguished achievement came after strong competitions that witnessed the participation of a group of the most prominent and powerful skydiving teams in the world, where the champions of the “Goal Team” presented high technical levels and consistent and distinguished performances throughout the stages of the tournament, to well-deservedly take the lead and ascend to the podium, crowned with the gold medal.
Through this coronation, our team confirmed its prestigious position among the best skydiving teams in the world, after it succeeded in outperforming a number of teams and teams with great experience in this sport, amid strong competition until the final stages of the tournament. This distinguished result reflects the extent of development witnessed by Qatari air sports, and the great efforts made in preparing and equipping our champions for international participation, which contributes to the continued strong Qatari presence on the podiums and raising the flag of the State of Qatar in various international forums.
The “Goal Team” is one of the most prominent skydiving teams at the international level, thanks to its distinguished results and achievements in major tournaments, adding a new golden achievement to the record of Qatari sports by being crowned in Locarno.
The fruit of work and persistence
His Excellency Major General Mohammed bin Zayed Al Otaibi, Commander of the Special Forces and Chairman of the Qatar Air Sports Committee, dedicated the golden achievement achieved by the Target Team to the shrine of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani – may God protect him – and to His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, the Deputy Emir, to His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, to His Excellency the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and to the honorable Qatari people.
His Excellency said: “Today we are proud of the honorable achievement achieved by the Goal team champions by winning the gold medal, which reflects the high efficiency, persistence, determination and competitive spirit of the people of Qatar. I extend my sincere congratulations to them, to the members of the technical and administrative staff, and to everyone who contributed to achieving this distinguished success.”
He added: “This gold medal did not come out of nowhere, but was the result of continuous work, careful training, discipline and commitment, self-confidence, and work in the spirit of one team. Our heroes have proven that reaching the podium requires great ambition and constant determination to achieve the best.”
His Excellency continued: “I say to our heroes: What you have achieved today is a source of pride for all of us, and at the same time represents motivation and responsibility to continue the path of success.
Al-Hajjaji: We give gold to Qatar
Abdulaziz Al-Hajjaji, captain of the Goal team, expressed his great happiness at winning the gold medal and first place, and said: “We dedicate this precious achievement and the gold medal to the State of Qatar, its leadership and its people, and we are proud to raise the flag of Qatar high on the international podiums.” He added: “This achievement was the result of great work and effort from all team members. The competition was strong, but we entered the tournament with the ambition to lead and succeeded in achieving our goal, and this gold gives us greater motivation to continue working and achieve more achievements in the name of Qatar.”
