The General Authority of Customs confirmed that, in accordance with Emiri Decree No. (45) of 2026 regarding raising customs tariffs on some types of chicken and agricultural products, the increase is applied only to items imported from countries not covered by the exemptions stipulated under the preferential agreements in force.
The authority explained in a post on its official social media accounts that the amended customs tariff includes refrigerated (non-frozen) chicken with an increase of 18 percent, while the increase on a number of agricultural products is 15 percent, to be applied seasonally during periods of peak local production.
The agricultural products subject to the increase include tomatoes, eggplant, and zucchini. The increase applies to tomatoes during the period from January to May, and to eggplant from January to April, in addition to the period from November to December, while zucchini includes the period from January to April and the period from October to December.
“Customs” confirmed that the increase in customs tariffs on imported types of chicken and agricultural products excludes countries included in the preferential agreements in force, which means that the increase applies to items imported from countries not included in these exemptions.
As for chilled chicken items, the list of excluded countries includes the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, namely Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, and Kuwait, in addition to a number of Arab countries, namely Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Morocco, Sudan, Algeria, Palestine, Yemen, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, and Lebanon, in addition to Türkiye.
As for the three agricultural products, the list of excluded countries includes the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and a number of Arab countries, namely Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Morocco, Sudan, Algeria, Palestine, Yemen, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, and Lebanon, in addition to Türkiye, Singapore, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Iceland.
