The delegation of the State of Qatar participating in the 20th Asian Games “Aichi-Nagoya 2026” celebrated yesterday the achievement achieved by the champions of our national shooting team, after they were crowned with two gold medals in the men’s skeet competitions, at the team and individual levels, in a new achievement added to the record of Qatari sports at the tournament.
The celebration, which was held at Qatar House in Nagoya, witnessed the presence of His Excellency Mohammed bin Youssef Al Mana, First Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and His Excellency Jassim bin Rashid Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, along with the champions of our national shooting team.
The celebration came after the brilliance of our team, consisting of Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah, Rashid Saleh Al-Athba and Ali Ahmed Al-Ishaq, and won the gold medal in the team skeet competition, while Rashid Saleh Al-Athba won the gold medal in the individual skeet competition after scoring a new Asian record of 34 points, thus combining the individual and team gold medals in the shooting competitions in the tournament.
The two shooting golds contributed to raising Al-Adam’s tally to four medals in Aichi-Nagoya 2026, with two golds, a silver and a bronze, after the two medals achieved by the karate team in recent days, while Al-Adam champions continue to participate in various competitions amid aspirations to win more medals in the coming days.
The Qatar Olympic Committee is keen to honor the champions of support who achieve achievements in the twentieth Asian Games “Aichi-Nagoya” held in Japan by hosting them at “Qatar House in Nagoya”, which has become a proud platform vibrant with enthusiasm to embrace and honor the Qatari heroes and heroines who win medals and raise the flag of support high in the Nagoya sky, in appreciation of their efforts and highlighting the growing Qatari presence in the Asian arena.
“Qatar House in Nagoya” is held under the slogan “The Place is Yours” inside the “Tiad Nagoya” Hotel, and gives visitors the opportunity to interact with the events it hosts, and provides an inspiring interactive sports and cultural experience to introduce the civilization and heritage of Qatar and its sporting achievements, and continues to receive its visitors throughout the games period, which extends until the fourth of next October.
“Al-Athba” praises the performance of the shooting champions
Masoud Al-Athba, Head of the Shotgun Equipment at the Qatar Archery and Archery Federation, praised the performance presented by the duo Rashid Al-Athba and Reem Al-Sharshani in the mixed skeet competition.
He said that they gave an outstanding performance in the qualifiers, and succeeded in topping the competitions amid the participation of an elite group of world and Olympic champions, but they were not successful in the final, wishing them success in the world championship scheduled to be held in Doha next month.
Al-Athba also appreciated the honorable achievement achieved by the Al-Adam shooters by winning two gold medals in the team and individual competitions, stressing that this achievement reflects the distinguished level and great efforts made by the shooters, expressing his hope to achieve good results and win more medals in the dirt competition.
“Al-Athba” and “Al-Sharshani” are in fourth place
The duo of our national shooting team, Rashid Saleh Al-Athba and Reem Al-Sharshani, came in fourth place in the mixed skeet competition in the 20th Asian Games “Aichi-Nagoya” 2026, which is currently being held in Japan and whose competitions will continue until the fourth of next October.
Rashid Al-Athba and Reem Al-Sharshani performed exceptionally well during the qualifiers, as they were able to top the standings and qualify for the final, but they did not succeed in the decisive round, settling for fourth place at the end of the competition.
The mixed skeet competitions witnessed strong levels and great competition, with the participation of an elite group of male and female shooters from various Asian countries, where the competitions were characterized by excitement and competition until the final round, which was decided by the Chinese duo in their favor to be crowned with the gold medal, while the South Korean duo won the silver medal, and the bronze medal went to the Indian duo.
Al-Athba and Al-Sharshani’s fourth place comes in addition to the distinguished results achieved by Qatari shooting since the start of the tournament, after its champions succeeded in achieving a number of medals in skeet competitions.
Our team, consisting of Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah, Rashid Saleh Al-Athba and Ali Ahmed Al-Ishaq, won the gold medal in the team skeet competition, in addition to Rashid Al-Athba winning the gold medal in the individual skeet competition.
Al Tamimi: The injury prevented me from repeating the achievement
Our national squash team player, Abdullah Al-Tamimi, bid farewell to the Asian Games in the round of 16, after he was forced to withdraw against the Japanese player, Tsuki Ryunosuke, due to injury, despite the great ambitions he had in order to continue competing and reach the podiums similar to the previous edition in China, during which he won bronze.
He said that the injury prevented him from completing his career, noting that he had great hopes of continuing the competition and achieving a new medal for Qatar, but the injury prevented that.
Al-Tamimi explained that the injury he suffered was at the level of the posterior muscle, indicating that he was suffering from a slight tear before the start of the tournament, but he tried to deal with it and continue participating, before the injury worsened during the round of 16 match.
