The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) announced the accreditation of the first batch of energy service companies (ESCOs), as part of its efforts to develop the consumption efficiency services market in the State of Qatar, and improve the quality and reliability of services provided to facilities and buildings, including consumption efficiency audit services.
The first batch includes four companies: Conserve Green Building & Electromechanical Solutions, Siemens, Mannai Energy, and Alliance Technologies.
The accreditation of companies comes as part of Kahramaa’s efforts to support specialized professional practices in the field of energy efficiency, and to improve the quality of studies and technical recommendations, which helps identify opportunities to reduce consumption, improve the operating efficiency of systems and equipment, reduce waste in electricity and water consumption, and support the state’s efforts in achieving environmental sustainability and preserving natural resources.
The approval of the first batch represents a step towards providing a list of qualified energy services companies according to specific technical requirements and standards, which enhances confidence in efficiency raising services, and enables government and private agencies to make informed decisions regarding the implementation of consumption efficiency projects and achieve measurable savings in electricity and water consumption.
The Conservation and Energy Efficiency Department at KAHRAMAA supervises the procedures for accrediting energy services companies, by preparing technical requirements and standards, reviewing applications and documents, verifying the efficiency of the applying companies and their technical expertise, in addition to following up on the accredited companies’ compliance with the applicable controls.
The administration works to develop the energy services sector and improve the quality of its services, in a way that supports identifying measurable savings opportunities and implementing efficiency-raising solutions in accordance with professional foundations and best international practices.
Kahramaa stated that accrediting energy services companies would contribute to developing the market for specialized technical solutions and services, stimulating investments in innovative technologies, enhancing the competitiveness of the private sector, in addition to providing quality job opportunities in the fields of sustainability, resource management, and engineering services.
This trend also contributes to reducing the operating and consumption costs of establishments and facilities, raising productivity efficiency, and enhancing the optimal use of resources, in a way that supports sustainable economic development and the goals of economic diversification in the country.
Kahramaa called on qualified companies wishing to obtain accreditation to submit their applications electronically through its official website, complete the data and attach the required documents in accordance with the approved procedures and standards.
She explained that electronic submission contributes to facilitating procedures, accelerating the follow-up of applications, and enhancing transparency, noting that it is possible to view the accreditation instructions, download the application form, and learn about the application mechanism and required documents through the accreditation page for energy services companies on the corporation’s official website.
The approval of the first batch comes within the framework of Kahramaa’s commitment to continue developing the resource efficiency system in the State of Qatar, and to enhance the role of the private sector and specialized companies in supporting the transition towards a more efficient and sustainable economy, in line with the objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy (QNDS3), and the objectives of the National Program “Tarsheed” in raising the efficiency of resource use and promoting sustainability.
This trend supports efforts to reduce emissions and enhance electricity and water security, which contributes to preserving natural resources and achieving sustainability for current and future generations.
