The Qatar 3×3 basketball team delegation returned to Doha, coming from the Japanese city of Nagoya, after participating in the “Aichi-Nagoya 2026” Asian Games, which witnessed the team winning the silver medal, continuing its presence on the Asian podium for the second time in a row, amid a crowded reception at Hamad International Airport in celebration of the continental achievement.
The delegation included Mr. Mohammed bin Saad Al-Mughaisib, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation, Mr. Saadoun Sabah Al-Kuwari, Secretary-General and Director of the National Teams and Head of the Basketball Delegation at the Asian Games, and Captain Yassin Ismail, Director of the National 3×3 Basketball Teams, along with members of the technical and administrative staff and players Mohammed Hashem, Hamad Yassin, Nizar Mahmoud, and Mubarak Jama.
For his part, Mr. Mohammed bin Saad Al-Mughaisib, President of the Qatar Basketball Federation, dedicated the achievement to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, to the wise leadership, and to His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, in appreciation of the continued support enjoyed by Qatari sports and the national teams.
Al-Mughaisib stressed that the silver medal represents a new addition to the Qatari basketball journey
For his part, Mr. Saadoun Sabah Al Kuwari, Secretary General, Director of the National Teams, and Head of the Basketball Delegation at the Asian Games, confirmed that maintaining the silver medal for the second time in a row reflects the continuous development witnessed by 3×3 basketball in Qatar, pointing out that the team fought strong competitions and succeeded in passing various stages of the tournament until reaching the final match.
In turn, Captain Yassin Ismail, director of the 3×3 national basketball teams, praised the level presented by the players during the tournament, stressing that reaching the final match was a result of the continuous preparation and work that preceded the Asian participation.
While Mr. Abdullah Sultan Al Jaber, a member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Basketball Federation, confirmed that receiving the team’s delegation at Hamad International Airport came in appreciation of what the players and the technical and administrative staff provided during the Asian participation, praising the efforts made to reach the podium and maintain the team’s presence in the continental competition circuit.
