Google announced the start of replacing the “Games” feature with the “Skills” feature in the “Gemini” service for all users, starting next November 17.
The company explained that “Skills” allows users to create customized instructions and save them for use in different tasks, and Gemini can also automatically identify the appropriate skill and apply it according to the nature of the request, or choose it directly within the conversation.
Google has enabled the “Games” feature for users to create customized versions of Gemini, by specifying special instructions and adding files to provide additional context, allowing the way the assistant responds to be customized according to specific needs or tasks.
“Skills” provides a different way to access custom instructions, as the skill can be called up directly within the conversation using the symbol “”, and more than one skill can be used in the same task.
Google stated that users will be able to continue using “Gems” until its transfer begins, while it will automatically be transferred to “Skills” when it is transferred, without the need to take any action on the part of the user.
Google’s current instructions indicate that creating and using “Skills” requires a personal Google account and a subscription to “Google AI Pro” or “Google AI Ultra,” while the company has not yet clarified whether the feature will be available to users who do not have a paid subscription after the completion of the “Games” transition.
